The Honorable Professor Dr. Elisabeth Lovrek, president of the Austrian Supreme Court of Justice, was received on Tuesday by the president of the People's Supreme Court (TSP) of Cuba Rubén Remigio Ferro, as part of the institutional visit to the Caribbean nation.

At the beginning of the meeting, described as profitable by both parties, Remigio Ferro expressed his approval with the visit of the delegation of the Alpine country to the Cuban judicial headquarters, fruit of the existing bilateral relations that have made it possible to increase cooperation and exchange of experiences.

The Austrian delegation, also composed of His Excellency Mr. Stefan Weidinger, Ambassador of the Republic of Austria in Cuba, and Mr. Alexander Pirker, Director General of the Ministry of Constitutional Affairs, Reforms, Deregulation and Justice of the European country, was interested in advances that in digital matter have been implemented in the Cuban courts.

In this regard, the president of the TSP explained how the computerization of judicial activity is developed, in strong alliance with the University of Computer Science, leader in the production of tools that will pay agility to each process.

For her part, Dr. Elisabeth Lovrek was interested in knowing the functioning of the judicial system and its structure, which highlights the presence of lay judges, who represent the people in the delivery of justice.

The intense legislative work that the country is experiencing after the approval of the new Magna Carta was another of the issues addressed during the meeting, the head of the TSP highlighted the leading role of the Cuban courts in the elaboration of necessary legislative transformations in the legal field

At the end of the meeting, the visit made by the president of the TSP to the Supreme Court of Justice and the Constitutional Court of the Alpine country was recalled in April 2018 where he received extensive information on the structures and functions of the different Austrian judicial courts.

The intense visit program of the Austrian delegation continued today by the Popular Provincial Court of Pinar del Río, the scene of a fruitful meeting with its president, Liosbel Márquez García and other members of the Governing Council. It is also planned tours of sites of historical and cultural interest of the nation.
