From 1987 until 1996, he was promoted indistinctly to: provincial judge, president of the Criminal Chamber, and president of the Provincial Court, all in Pinar del Río. Vice President (1997); Supreme People's Court. President (1998-); Supreme People's Court of the Republic of Cuba.
